The lands which are grouped under the Rueda Designation of Origin (D.O.) are the provinces of Valladolid, Segovia and Avila.

The different varieties of grape cultivated are irregularly distributed across the various municipal districts that make up the Rueda D. O. However, the vineyards are most plentiful in the La Seca, Rueda and Serrada municipal districts.

The average height of the vines is 750 metres above sea level, although in the vineyards in the province of Segovia they can reach as high as 850 metres above sea level. The soils are gritty and stony, poor in organic material and with good aeration and drainage. It is a continental climate, with average annual temperature of 13 ºC, while average annual rainfall is 400 mm.
